A couple more birthday parties for Chilkoot. One for mostly theater friends at Sky Zone (trampolines<\/a> and other jumpy stuff<\/a>). Sometimes the two kids had fun together<\/a>, sometimes Chilkat felt the need to isolate herself<\/a>. We also had a family birthday party, with Chilkoot’s favorite Polish pastry<\/a> and pizza<\/a> and cake<\/a>. Chilkoot got a fancy controller for the Wii<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KrisDi got a crack in her windshield<\/a>, which sparked an interesting thing with Subaru being sued because of faulty glass<\/a> used in her year of Ascent. We ended up paying some out of pocket, but with fancy optical safety equipment things like this are expensive as fuck now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kids had a one-week-summer-camp Kettleworks thing with the Emperor’s New Clothes<\/a>. Chilkoot was the emperor, Chilkat was Lady Voluble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went camping at Colonial Creek, which is something of an offshoot from Lake Diablo. Lots of photos, but not much specific to say. Beautiful site. Chilkat got to own a boat for a while<\/a> (someone abandoned it with a note<\/a>, so I let her claim it, captain it momentarily, and then re-abandon it), we explored a wrecked boathouse<\/a>, I taught Chilkoot to make mud butter<\/a>, I let the kids climb under a bridge<\/a> (inspiring a fantastic new comparison: “Mom’s the parent that won’t let us do anything unsafe, but will pay for anything we want; Dad’s the parent who won’t pay for anything but will let us do anything fun no matter how dangerous” — this isn’t actually what was said, but kind of the gist of the quote). We stopped at a scenic overlook<\/a> for beautiful views<\/a> of Lake Diablo<\/a> before we left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
